No Team Too Small: How One Family Made a Big Difference

When a family of three from The Hill Church in Bolivar came down to Mexico for the first time, they didn’t just come to visit—they came ready to serve. What started as a scouting trip to explore partnership possibilities quickly turned into a week packed with meaningful work and connection that made a lasting difference.

Dad showed up with surprising skills and determination. Over just a few days, he installed a door in our office, built sturdy shelving units to organize our nursery, constructed benches for our visitor housing, and even completed a much-needed deck addition. His craftsmanship and work ethic left us all impressed, accomplishing in days what might have taken weeks otherwise.

Meanwhile, Mom and daughter rolled up their sleeves to help tidy and organize our baby play area, sorting through donations and making the nursery space ready to welcome new little ones. Their efforts behind the scenes made a tangible difference in preparing for the children who will soon call this place home.

But this trip wasn’t just about building and cleaning. The family also dove into relationship building with two of our partner orphanages. They spent an afternoon playing card games with the teenagers at Casa de Mi Familia, demonstrating how connections can be built despite language barriers. At Pequeños Gigantes, they prepared and served a delicious lunch—meeting a practical need while also investing in meaningful relationships with the children.
